High School at 2101 E. Sublett Rd. from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on

Call time for concerts will be a half hour before the concert time, unless otherwise noted. |
Performance SeasonsWe have three performance seasons: Spring: February through April; Summer: mid-May through early August; Fall: October through early December. You are asked to sign up for each season. This allows you the flexibility to play no matter what kind of schedule you have. You are asked to look over the season schedule and let us know which concerts you will not be able to play.Season Fees Members are required to contribute $15 per season to help cover expenses such as music and insurance. Members paying on an annual basis pay $40 in the fall. If season fees are an issue, please contact the President or another Board Member.Uniform The band has three uniforms. For indoor performances, we wear white, long-sleeve oxford shirts with the ACB insignia, dark slacks or skirts, and dark shoes. For outdoor performances, we wear Lone Star white polo shirts with the ACB insignia, and dark slacks or skirts. Specific information is given at the rehearsal prior to a performance. If you need to purchase a uniform shirt, please talk to Rick Evans. White long-sleeve shirts cost $22; the white polo shirts cost $25. For occasional concerts that are more formal, the band wears concert black -- long black dresses for the ladies, and tuxes or dark suits for the men.Equipment Always bring a music stand (wire stands are fine) to each performance unless told otherwise. Clothespins are necessary for outdoor performances.Inclement Weather ACB uses a "calling tree" to let players know ahead of time if a performance has been canceled for any reason. If you haven't received a call before you leave for the concert, then go to the performance site and wait for a decision. There have been times that the skies have cleared, or the performance was moved indoors at the last minute. Tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings (warnings, not just watches) covering the concert site will cause an automatic cancellation of outdoor concerts. If you're in doubt, please contact a board member (listed below).Music Folders You will be issued a folder of music each season. If you miss a rehearsal, check with the Librarian to see if new music was handed out while you were gone. Please treat this folder as the valuable property that it is. Some of the music may be out of print and some may be borrowed and must be returned. Remember to write on your music only in pencil. If you must highlight or make other than pencil marks on your music, please copy the part first and then mark on your own copy. Each folder must be turned in at the last performance of each season. If there is some reason you cannot return your folder at that time, contact the Librarian, Ed Gutierrez and make arrangements to return your folder. If you must miss a rehearsal or concert, and there is any chance that someone else will be covering your part, be sure that you make arrangements to get your folder to that rehearsal or concert.Email, Address and Phone Numbers If you are new to the group, you will be asked to fill out a paper with your address, phone numbers and email address. Please check with our Personnel Manager, Sheri Harber, to make sure we have your correct information at the start of each season and let her know if there are any changes. We do not share this information with anyone outside the band. Please keep us informed so you can be informed. We don't want to lose you!ACB Governing Structure A ten-member board governs the Arlington Community Band. Two members are appointed, and eight are elected. Each elected board member holds office for two years. Four board positions are elected at the Annual Meeting every year in July, generally during a rehearsal. If you are interested in being on the Board, contact any board member for more information. The bylaws also contain more detailed information. |
