Performance Seasons
We have three performance seasons: Spring: January through April;
Summer: June and July; Fall: August through early
December. You are asked to sign up for each season. This allows you
the flexibility to play no matter what kind of schedule you have. You
are asked to look over the season schedule and let us know which
concerts you will not be able to play.
Season Fees
Membership dues are $20 each for Spring and Fall and $10 for the Summer or $40 for the year. If season fees are an issue, please contact
the President or another Board Member.
Uniform
The band has two uniforms. Our casual uniform is a red, white, and blue embroidered polo shirt or as we call it the "star" shirt.
Our formal uniform is concert black. We ask that men wear black suits with a bow tie and that the ladies wear all black with the full length skirt or slacks. Specific uniform information is given
at the rehearsal prior to a performance. Star shirts are available through Rick Evans for $35.
Equipment
Always bring a music stand (wire stands are fine) to each performance
unless told otherwise. Clothespins are necessary for outdoor
performances.
Inclement Weather
ACB uses email to let players know ahead of time if a
performance has been canceled for any reason. Please check your email prior to any performance especially in the event of inclement weather. There have been times that the skies
have cleared, or the performance was moved indoors at the last minute.
If you're in doubt, please contact a board member
(listed below).
Music Folders
You will be issued a folder of music each season. If you miss a
rehearsal, check with the Librarian to see if new music was handed out
while you were gone. Please treat this folder as the valuable property
that it is. Each folder must be turned in at the last performance of each season.
If there is some reason you cannot return your folder at that time,
contact the Librarian, Ed Gutierrez and make arrangements to return
your folder. If you must miss a rehearsal or concert, and there is any
chance that someone else will be covering your part, be sure that you
make arrangements to get your folder to that rehearsal or
concert.
Email, Address and Phone Numbers
If you are new to the group, you will be asked to fill out a paper with
your address, phone numbers and email address. Please check with our
Personnel Manager, Rick Evans, to make sure we have your correct
information at the start of each season and let him know if there are
any changes. We do not share this information with anyone outside the
band.
ACB Governing Structure
A ten-member board governs the Arlington Community Band. Two members
are appointed, and eight are elected. Each elected board member holds
office for two years. Four board positions are elected at the Annual
Meeting every year in December, generally during a rehearsal. If you are
interested in being on the Board, contact any board member for more
information. The bylaws
also contain more detailed information.
