Arlington Community Band
Prospective Member Eligibility

Membership in the Arlington Community Band is open to all adults who have graduated from high school or are old enough to be past high school age. As the only non-auditioned band for adults in Arlington, it strives to accept and grow all adult musicians that approach it, both amateur and professional. The Band attempts to maintain the quality of its concert performances while at the same time making space for the musicians who are returning to music after furloughs for career or family obligations. This is a goal that takes extra patience and skillful rehearsal/programming, but provides a rich reward to the community - both musicians and audience.

Arlington Community Band
General Information for Prospective Members

Performance Seasons
We generally have three performance seasons each year: Spring: February through April; Summer: mid-May through early August; Fall: October through early December. You are asked to sign up for each season. This allows you the flexibility to play no matter what kind of schedule you have. You are asked to look over the season schedule and let us know which concerts you will not be able to play.
Rehearsals
We rehearse weekly during our performance seasons. Rehearsals are currently on Mondays from 6:45 to 9:00 p.m., in Fielder Road Baptist Church. You are welcome to drop by to listen or to sit in for a trial session. If you plan to become a band member, it is helpful to let us know ahead of time so that our librarian can have a folder prepared for you. Fielder Road Baptist Church is located on the northwest corner of Fielder Road and Pioneer Parkway (Highway 303) in Arlington.
Season Fees
Members are required to contribute $15 per season to help cover expenses such as music and insurance. Members paying on an annual basis pay $40 in the fall. If season fees are an issue, please contact the President or another Board Member.
Uniform
The band has three uniforms. For indoor performances, we wear white, long-sleeve oxford shirts with the ACB insignia, dark slacks or skirts, and dark shoes. For outdoor performances, we wear Lone Star white polo shirts with the ACB insignia, and dark slacks or skirts. Specific information is given at the rehearsal prior to a performance. If you need to purchase a uniform shirt, please talk to Rick Evans. White long-sleeve shirts cost $22; the white polo shirts cost $25. For occasional concerts that are more formal, the band wears concert black -- long black dresses for the ladies, and tuxes or dark suits for the men.
ACB Governing Structure
A ten-member board governs the Arlington Community Band. Two members are appointed, and eight are elected. Each elected board member holds office for two years. Four board positions are elected at the Annual Meeting every year in July, generally during a rehearsal. If you are interested in being on the Board, contact any board member for more information. The bylaws also contain more detailed information.
